Football/ La Liga: New signings shine as Gallagher and Alvarez score in Atletico’s 3-0 win over Valencia

Atletico Madrid’s new signings made an immediate impact in their 3-0 victory over Valencia, with both Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez finding the back of the net for the first time since joining the club.

Gallagher, who arrived from Chelsea in a £33 million deal last month, opened the scoring in the first half. The England midfielder slotted home confidently from inside the area after being set up by Rodrigo De Paul, marking his first goal in La Liga.

Julian Alvarez, who joined Atletico from Manchester City in the summer, capped off the win with his debut goal in stoppage time.

The Argentine striker pounced on a loose ball in the box to secure the team’s third goal and his long-awaited first for the club after four goalless appearances.

The performance of the new recruits helped propel Atletico to second place in La Liga, as they now sit four points behind leaders Barcelona.
