Football/Barcelona dominate Girona to extend perfect start

Barcelona maintained their 100% record in La Liga with a convincing 4-1 win over Girona in Sunday’s Catalan derby at Montilivi Stadium. Hansi Flick’s side delivered another dominant performance, securing their fifth consecutive victory to remain the only team in Spain with a perfect start.

The Blaugrana controlled the first half, with relentless pressing and sharp attacking play. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 30th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error.

The 17-year-old doubled his tally seven minutes later with a brilliant curling effort following a poorly cleared free-kick.

Girona briefly threatened before halftime, but VAR overturned a potential penalty call against Iñigo Martínez. Barça went into the break 2-0 up.

Just 75 seconds into the second half, Dani Olmo added a spectacular third, firing into the net after a superb long pass from Jules Kounde.

Pedri sealed the win with a composed finish following an inch-perfect through ball from Marc Casadó.

Cristhian Stuani grabbed a late consolation for Girona, while Ferran Torres was controversially sent off, leaving Barça to finish the game with 10 men.

Despite the late goal and red card, Barcelona cruised to victory, showing no signs of rust after the international break. Flick’s team continues to look formidable as they push for La Liga glory.
