DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi strengthens military cooperation with Uganda to secure Ituri

President Félix Tshisekedi is taking decisive action in the fight against insecurity by enhancing military collaboration with Uganda. This partnership is exemplified by joint operations targeting the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the Ituri province, an area that has been severely affected by the violence perpetrated by this armed group.

Recently, President Tshisekedi welcomed a delegation from the Ugandan Land Forces Command, led by General Christian Tshiwewe, Chief of Staff of the FARDC, to assess the effectiveness of these collaborative efforts.

Following a review of the joint operations, President Tshisekedi issued clear directives to deepen military cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

The goal is to strengthen ongoing initiatives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks that threaten regional stability and ensuring the safety of local communities.

This strategic alliance between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda is vital for eliminating the influence of armed groups and establishing lasting peace.

Moreover, this military partnership underscores President Tshisekedi’s commitment to seeking practical and effective solutions for securing the entire Congolese territory.

By prioritizing enhanced cooperation with neighboring countries, he aims to unite forces and resources necessary to tackle the security challenges that beset the eastern region of the DRC.

In this context, President Tshisekedi’s directives reflect a steadfast determination not only to combat insecurity but also to strengthen bilateral relations in pursuit of a shared goal: peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
