AES Confederation/Counter-terrorism: Defence and security forces strengthen their capabilities at the Mali War College

According to official reports, the War College of the Republic of Mali has welcomed officers from the AES Confederation for the 2024-2025 academic year.

This training program aims to equip participants with essential skills in combating terrorism within their shared space, reflecting the commitment of the Confederation’s top leadership to strengthen collaborative efforts.

Upon completing the program, these officers will bolster the ranks of forces already engaged in counter-terrorism efforts across the Liptako-Gourma region.

It’s worth noting that a joint force within the AES Confederation is currently in development, aimed at addressing the security challenges faced by member states and the broader Sahel region.

Leaders of the Confederation have consistently emphasized the importance of collective defense, recognizing the shared nature of these threats.

The Malian military leadership has outlined that the training will prepare participants to “immediately take on responsibilities in collective defense and tackle the challenges facing the Alliance’s member states.”

This reflects the ongoing process of integrating resources and capacities within the Confederation to ensure enhanced security for populations in the region.

In Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, authorities remain resolute in their fight against terrorism, committed to eradicating these threats and securing sustainable development for their people.

As efforts intensify, mechanisms continue to be put in place to achieve these shared objectives.
