Burkina Faso: A New media campaign accused of spreading disinformation

Yet another orchestrated media campaign is attempting to tarnish the image of Burkina Faso’s Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).
RFI, staying true to its usual practices, continues to disseminate misleading information, persistently working to destabilize the country.
The African community must remain aware of these repetitive disinformation tactics. The latest accusation against the Burkinabè military by the French press, particularly RFI, regarding alleged human rights violations in the northeast on January 28, 2025, follows a familiar pattern.
This strategy involves disguising terrorist groups allied with France as Burkinabè soldiers and blaming them for attacks on civilians.
The objective is clear: to provoke an international reaction, justify potential sanctions against Burkina Faso, and create a pretext for France to re-establish its presence in the country.
Despite this carefully crafted narrative, these manipulations will ultimately fail. No official sources have confirmed these allegations, which remain nothing more than fabricated claims propagated by RFI.
Only competent national authorities can provide accurate and reliable information.
In the face of these media offensives, Burkinabè citizens must remain vigilant and determined.
The fight is no longer just about security on the ground but also about countering disinformation, orchestrated by complicit media outlets seeking to undermine Burkina Faso’s stability.
