APEC President Samuel Kalkoundo visits SOBTO tomato Processing Plant in Bobo-Dioulasso

On Monday, February 3, 2025, the President of the Board of Directors of the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC), Mr. Samuel Kalkoundo, made an unannounced visit to the “Société Burkinabe de Tomate” (SOBTO) tomato processing plant in Bobo-Dioulasso.

The purpose of his visit was to assess firsthand the large-scale production of tomato paste and to encourage the workers contributing to this industrial effort.

Upon arrival, Mr. Kalkoundo observed the plant’s smooth operations and the unwavering commitment of the general manager and his team in ensuring continuous and efficient production.

“I have seen a determined team working tirelessly to carry out this large-scale production. I extend my congratulations to the general manager of SOBTO and all the staff for their dedication. I can assure the Burkinabe population that very soon, they will find locally produced tomato paste under the ‘A’dia’ brand in stores and households,” he stated.

SOBTO’s General Manager, Mr. Didier Sanon, highlighted that the company is actively working to make tomato concentrate available in various sizes, including 2200g, 850g, 400g, and 70g cans, as well as 60g and 10g sachets.

The goal is to provide high-quality products tailored to the needs of Burkinabe consumers.

Additionally, Mr. Sanon announced the launch of a communication campaign to inform the public about the availability of ‘A’dia’ products through authorized distributors.

These distributors will ensure efficient delivery to retail outlets, facilitating broad and equitable access to Burkina Faso’s locally produced tomato paste.

This initiative aligns with the country’s efforts to strengthen food sovereignty and promote local industry.
