Mali: In Moscow, President Assimi Goïta confirms the solidity of strategic relations in the service of Malians

Malian President Assimi Goïta is currently in Moscow, where he will hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on issues of bilateral cooperation. This official visit, aimed at strengthening ties between Bamako and Moscow, reflects the continuation of high-level dialogue between Mali and Russia within the framework of what both countries describe as a win-win partnership.

Welcomed upon arrival by Russian officials with the honors reserved for Heads of State, this visit—the second to Russia since the Russia-Africa Summit in July 2023—demonstrates Mali’s ambition to broaden its network of strategic partners to meet its development needs.

On the agenda are bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin and expanded meetings involving both delegations. Security, energy, transport, and infrastructure will be key topics of discussion, highlighting the growing multi-sector collaboration between the two countries. This pragmatic approach reflects Mali’s commitment to diversifying its partnerships beyond traditional allies, with a strong emphasis on independence and sovereignty.

This policy of openness, led by President Assimi Goïta, underscores Mali’s determination to build balanced relationships based on mutual respect and alignment with national priorities. The strengthening of ties between Bamako and Moscow is therefore part of a long-term strategic vision, serving a Mali that stands tall, masters its own destiny, and is fully engaged in building a prosperous future for its people.
