Burkina Faso: Jospong Group of Companies, Ghanaian expertise soon in Burkina Faso to improve the living environment

As part of efforts to improve living conditions in Burkina Faso, Prime Minister Mr. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received a delegation from the Ghanaian group Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The delegation was led by Executive Chairman Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong and attended by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Environment, Mr. Roger Baro, and the country’s ambassador to Ghana, Colonel-Major David Kabré. This meeting marks a major step forward in the implementation of a significant project to establish a waste treatment plant in Burkina Faso.

The project stems from ongoing discussions between Burkinabe and Ghanaian authorities, particularly during the official visit of the Ghanaian President to Burkina Faso on March 10. It aligns with a broader South-South cooperation strategy aimed at promoting sustainable development and creating employment opportunities.

Operating in 24 African countries and with over 20 years of experience in the waste management sector, the Jospong Group proposes to leverage proven technologies and models from Ghana to address Burkina Faso’s environmental challenges.

The Prime Minister stated, “We are committed to promoting internal, African expertise,” welcoming the initiative as a beacon of hope for both youth employment and the fight against unsanitary conditions. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting and assisting investors who contribute to the country’s development.

The imminent signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Environment represents a key step before the start of infrastructure work, as announced by Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong. He expressed confidence in the vision of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, especially his ambition to drive job creation and foster a prosperous Burkina Faso. He also noted that Jospong Group plans to train young Burkinabe in Ghana so they can locally manage the plant and its related services.

This partnership between the two countries reflects their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation through tangible, long-term projects, while delivering innovative solutions to Burkina Faso’s environmental challenges.
