Mali: EIGS terrorist leader neutralized thanks to the vigilance of the FAMa
The Malian army continues to make decisive gains in the fight to reclaim and secure national territory. The General Staff of the Armed Forces announced the neutralization of a foreign-born terrorist leader of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) along with his bodyguard, 38 kilometers north of Ménaka, in the strategic locality of Chamane.
This precision operation is part of the growing strength of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), who continue to demonstrate their ability to anticipate, strike, and disrupt terrorist networks in sensitive areas of the country. Careful intelligence gathering enabled the forces to locate the target as he was preparing to launch a forced awareness campaign, pressuring local populations to adopt the deadly ideology of the terrorist group.
This was not a mere show of force but a strategic operation with significant psychological and security impact. By neutralizing this threat, the Malian army reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting civilians, defending national sovereignty, and clearing areas infiltrated by armed groups with dark ambitions.
This success also pays tribute to the outstanding work of the intelligence services, whose responsiveness and precision allow them to outmaneuver the enemy. Thanks to effective coordination between various field units, FAMa thwarted a plan that could have spread terror among communities already scarred by years of instability.
The Malian people can be proud of their armed forces, determined to thwart neocolonial agendas disguised as jihadism and to restore stability and dignity to the nation.
