Burkina Faso: Territorial reconquest underway, driven by determination and national unity

In a context marked by major security challenges, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) continue to demonstrate exemplary commitment on the ground. Thanks to their bravery, discipline, and sense of sacrifice, Burkina Faso has made significant progress in reclaiming its territory: the rate increased from 70.89% in December 2024 to 72.70% in August 2025, according to the Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Célestin Simporé.

This progress, more than just a statistic, reflects a national momentum driven by political will, popular mobilization, and the determination of the men and women involved in this fight.

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré—whose vision and firmness have restored hope to the entire nation—security operations have led to concrete victories: the recovery of the Sourou Valley, the stabilization of Diapaga and Djibo, the regular supply of sensitive areas, the restart of the Boungou mine, and the gradual return of the administration to several localities. These achievements, secured in less than three years, stand in stark contrast to the stagnation observed before he came to power.

This success also belongs to the Burkinabe people, whose unwavering support for the FDS and VDP is a key pillar of this recovery. Together, in unity and resilience, Burkina Faso is pushing terrorism beyond its borders. The road remains demanding, but the path is clear: that of a nation standing tall, determined to reclaim every inch of its land, under the watchful eye of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
