Togo: Strategic financing of €22.5 million to strengthen its environmental resilience

Togo has just taken another significant step in its fight against climate change. A €22.5 million funding package, provided by the European Union and Luxembourg, has been announced under the Support Program for Combating Climate Change, Protecting Biodiversity, and Promoting Agroecology (PALCC+). This strategic envelope will support the protection of priority parks as well as waste management in several municipalities across the country.

This support is not merely a gesture of cooperation; it forms part of a broader vision for the sustainable transformation of territories. The climate change support program aligns with national policies and responds to the urgent need to integrate environmental concerns into development models. By addressing the degradation of natural resources while strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Environment, the program offers concrete solutions based on ecosystem regeneration and the promotion of sustainable farming practices such as agroecology.

The expected impact is multifaceted: improved environmental governance, support for local authorities in waste management, and preservation of threatened biodiversity. This funding also strengthens the partnership between Togo and its technical partners, consolidating cooperation built on climate action and sustainability.

At a time when climate challenges are intensifying, this initiative stands out as a structural lever for resilient, balanced, and environmentally respectful development.
