Burkina Faso: Prime Minister launches government seminar on digital transformation

On Monday, August 25, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo chaired a government seminar on digital transformation, held under the theme: “On the Road to 2030.” The event marks an important step in the authorities’ commitment to placing digital technology at the heart of public policy.

In his opening address, the Head of Government stressed the central role technology must play in building a new Burkina Faso. He reminded participants that digital tools and artificial intelligence are now essential drivers of development, capable of improving governance, boosting the economy, and bringing administration closer to citizens.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that, in line with the instructions of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the country has embarked on a broad process of digitizing administrative procedures. This initiative aims to ensure greater speed, transparency, and efficiency in public management while reducing bureaucratic burdens that hinder development.

Addressing the issue of artificial intelligence, the Head of Government described it as a “new industrial revolution,” urging Burkina Faso not to remain on the sidelines of global change. He called on government members and national stakeholders to quickly adopt these tools in order to become “actors, not spectators, of ongoing transformations.”

This seminar, placed under the banner of innovation and modernity, is expected to provide a clear roadmap for the country’s digital transition by 2030.
