DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi discusses satellite project with Monacosat representative

The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, held a meeting with Mr. Jean-Philippe Anvam, representative of Monacosat, the main satellite operator of the Principality of Monaco. This meeting is part of the follow-up on strategic projects aimed at strengthening the digital and technological capacities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Mr. Jean-Philippe Anvam was accompanied by the Minister of Digital Economy, Augustin Kibasa Maliba, and the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, José Mpanda Kabangu. The presence of these two government members highlights the importance that Congolese authorities attach to the implementation of this major project.

During the discussions, the Monacosat representative briefed the Head of State on the progress of the DRC’s satellite acquisition project, made possible through the partnership with the Monegasque company. This initiative represents a major milestone in the national strategy to modernize digital infrastructure.

The acquisition of the satellite will open up new opportunities for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in telecommunications, internet coverage, audiovisual broadcasting, and strategic data management. It also marks a decisive step toward the country’s digital independence and the reduction of the technological divide between urban and rural areas.
