Togo: Lomé surpasses historic GDP milestone of 6 trillion

capital of Togo

Togo has just achieved a remarkable economic performance in 2024. According to figures published by the National Statistics Committee, the country’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.5%, confirming the momentum of recent years. After a 6.2% growth rate in 2023, this new increase highlights the resilience and strength of the Togolese economy.

For the first time in its history, the country’s nominal GDP has crossed the symbolic threshold of 6,000 billion CFA francs. It reached 6,458 billion in 2024, compared to 5,954 billion the previous year. This milestone is the result of combined efforts, particularly in diversifying the economy, developing infrastructure, and promoting a favorable business climate.

These results confirm the relevance of the strategic choices made by the Togolese authorities under the leadership of the President of the Council, His Excellency Faure Gnassingbé.

The economic policy implemented aims to reconcile growth, social inclusion, and sustainability, while strengthening the country’s competitiveness in a demanding regional context.

At the level of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), Togo stands out for its dynamism. With an average regional growth rate of 5.5% in 2024, Lomé ranks among the leading economies of the zone. This position reflects the country’s strategic importance and its ability to become a driving force for development in the sub-region.
