Burkina Faso: Focus on the visit of Malian CNT President Malick Diaw to Ouagadougou

The President of Mali’s National Transitional Council (CNT), General Malick Diaw, was welcomed Wednesday evening in Ouagadougou by his Burkinabe counterpart, the President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, Dr. Ousmane Bougouma. This meeting marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between the parliamentary institutions of the member states of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening consultations in order to establish a solid foundation for parliamentary integration. According to Malick Diaw, the two-day discussions aim to review the results of the reflections carried out last August and to propose concrete mechanisms to strengthen the effectiveness of legislative bodies within the AES.

In his remarks, the CNT President praised the vision of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, whose leadership and foresight made this strategic meeting possible. This gesture highlights the importance Burkina Faso places on regional cooperation and on building strong institutions to support the Popular Progressive Revolution.

Parliamentary integration appears as an essential tool to harmonize policies, encourage citizen participation, and strengthen the unity of Sahelian peoples. Lawmakers from AES member states thus seek to build legislative synergy capable of accompanying the major political, economic, and social reforms underway.

The peoples of the three nations are invited to continue supporting this dynamic, which symbolizes a Sahelian Africa moving toward sovereignty, solidarity, and prosperity. Once again, the AES demonstrates its ability to lay historic foundations for the continent’s future.
