Niger: Six terrorists neutralised by the FAN and security forces in the west of the country

The Armed Forces of Niger (FAN) have dealt a fresh blow to armed groups threatening the stability of the country. According to an official statement released this weekend, six terrorists were neutralized during separate operations in western Niger, confirming the determination of the transitional authorities to defend every inch of national territory.

The first intervention took place in the Tillabéri region, an area regularly targeted by terrorist incursions.

While an FAN unit was conducting a routine patrol near the Sakoira market, the soldiers spotted a group of four terrorists who had discreetly arrived to gather supplies.

Caught off guard by the security forces’ vigilance, the individuals attempted to flee, but the response was immediate. “The prompt, disciplined, and decisive reaction of our troops enabled their neutralization,” the statement said.

In the Dosso region, near the locality of Bolbol, two other terrorists were eliminated during a targeted operation carried out by another FAN unit.

These simultaneous interventions demonstrate the effectiveness of the security apparatus established across the country to contain terrorist threats and protect civilians.

For several months, the transitional authorities under General Abdourahamane Tiani have intensified efforts to bolster the operational capacity of the troops and reaffirm Niger’s sovereignty.
