Burkina Faso launches “Dèmè Sira” National solidarity campaign to strengthen cohesion

OUAGADOUGOU – In a nation confronting profound security, social, and economic challenges, the Burkinabe government is placing solidarity at the core of its response. On Friday, November 14, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo officially launched the national communication and awareness campaign “Dèmè Sira” (“The Path of Solidarity”) in Ouagadougou, an initiative designed to become a driving force for national unity.

Under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the executive branch has chosen a collective response rooted in Burkina Faso’s deepest societal values.

For the authorities, “Dèmè Sira” is not merely a slogan but a concrete pathway to shared progress, where every citizen matters and no one is left behind.

The campaign aims to rekindle the community spirit that has long been a foundation of national culture.

During the launch ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized the campaign’s symbolic and practical significance.

He described “Dèmè Sira” as a return to fundamental Burkinabè identity; a people united by solidarity and the principle of Bayiri, the belief that a child belongs to the entire community.

This philosophy prioritizes the collective good and frames the protection of every individual as a shared duty.

The Prime Minister underscored the need to strengthen the invisible yet unbreakable bond connecting all Burkinabe, regardless of origin, belief, or social status.

The campaign seeks to mobilize communities, youth, opinion leaders, and institutions to reinforce solidarity mechanisms, encouraging citizen engagement and active participation in the nation’s reconstruction and resilience.

As Burkina Faso continues its determined efforts to overcome current challenges, “Dèmè Sira” stands as an essential instrument for revitalizing national unity and fostering a positive dynamic grounded in community spirit. Through this initiative, the government reaffirms its commitment to advancing with and for the people, making solidarity a strategic pillar of national development.
