Morocco dominates 2025 CAF Awards with historic Hakimi and Chebbak wins
In a historic night for Moroccan football, Achraf Hakimi and Ghizlane Chebbak were crowned the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Players of the Year for 2025 in Rabat.
Hakimi claimed his first men’s award after a stellar season with Paris Saint-Germain, where his contributions were pivotal in the club’s quadruple-winning campaign, including the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1.
The dynamic right-back edged out finalists Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen for the honor.
The victory of Chebbak was a landmark achievement, making her the first Moroccan woman to win the prestigious award.

The influential midfielder, who recently joined Saudi club Al Hilal, was recognized for her consistent excellence, notably winning the Golden Boot at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The ceremony also celebrated other top African talent. Cabo Verde’s Bubista was named Men’s Coach of the Year, while Morocco’s U-20 squad won Men’s National Team of the Year.
Nigeria’s women’s team took the corresponding women’s award, and Egyptian side Pyramids FC were crowned Men’s Club of the Year.
The event solidified Morocco’s standing as a dominant force in African football, with its players and teams securing multiple major awards.
