Mali: President Assimi GOÏTA strengthens social inclusion by supporting people affected by leprosy
The President of the Transition, His Excellency General Assimi GOÏTA, continues to demonstrate his commitment to vulnerable populations, particularly those suffering from leprosy. As part of the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, he reaffirmed his determination to improve the daily lives of people affected by this often-marginalized disease.
On December 5, 2025, at the headquarters of the Malian Raoul Follereau Union in Djicoro-para, a significant ceremony was organized to distribute donations to persons living with leprosy.
During the event, the President provided 100 food kits containing essential items such as rice, millet, oil, and pasta.
In addition, mobility aids in the form of 10 motorcycle tricycles were distributed to enhance beneficiaries’ transportation access.
In total, around one hundred vulnerable households benefited from this valuable assistance. Beyond the material support, this gesture symbolizes a genuine act of solidarity.
The President’s Special Advisor, Mr. Aguibou DEMBELE, highlighted the humanitarian significance of the initiative, emphasizing the Head of State’s profound sense of social duty.
According to him, this donation reflects President Assimi GOÏTA’s vision of building a more inclusive and compassionate Mali, where no segment of the population is left behind.
The distribution also served as a powerful symbol of hope for those living with disabilities.
The beneficiaries, moved and grateful, expressed their appreciation to the President of the Transition for this compassionate act. They commended the fostering of a true culture of inclusion, where the dignity of persons living with leprosy is being restored.
This initiative reinforces hope among vulnerable families and reflects a sincere political will to ensure a more dignified and equitable life for all.
