Burkina Faso: Are the enemies changing their strategy by infiltrating religious communities and NGOs?

Since the crushing failure of their attempt to destabilize Burkina Faso through terrorism, the country’s enemies appear to be shifting tactics. Unable to withstand the firepower and resolve of the Burkinabe fighting forces, these hostile actors are now turning to more insidious methods, aiming to sow division within the social fabric. According to consistent sources, they are currently attempting to infiltrate religious communities and certain NGOs in hopes of sparking internal tensions and undermining national cohesion.

Though subtle, this new maneuver is no less dangerous. Exploiting faith, charity, or humanitarian work to spread subversive ideologies or orchestrate manipulation campaigns is a treacherous attack on the unity of the Burkinabè people. By infiltrating trusted institutions, these enemies seek to turn influential figures against the current leadership and weaken the authority of President Ibrahim Traoré, who continues to enjoy strong popular support.

But today’s Burkina Faso is not what it once was. Thanks to the vigilance of the people, the rise in patriotic awareness, and the spirit of sacrifice shown by the nation’s sons and daughters, attempts at manipulation are being exposed with increasing speed. The people now understand that the war is no longer fought solely on the battlefield, but also in minds—through disinformation and infiltration. In this fight, resilience and unity remain the strongest weapons.

Now more than ever, heightened vigilance is essential. Every citizen, every religious leader, every civil society actor must stay alert and refuse to become a tool for foreign agendas. Burkina Faso is firmly on the path to full sovereignty, and no enemy—no matter how cunning—can stop the determination of a people who stand united behind their fighting forces and their President.
