Mali: 182 billion to connect the country, President Assimi Goïta maps out the roads of the future

Under the leadership of General Assimi Goïta, Mali is undergoing a historic transformation of its territory. With a major investment of 182 billion CFA francs, the Malian State has placed over 20,000 kilometers of roads at the heart of its sustainable development and national integration strategy. This large-scale initiative reflects a visionary policy aimed at fostering inclusive and resilient mobility.

Behind every rehabilitated road section lies renewed economic momentum: a family gains access to healthcare, a student can attend school, and farmers can reach markets more easily. The program is designed to improve road traffic, lower logistical costs for key stakeholders, and open up isolated areas of the country.

The social impact is equally transformative. More than 15,000 jobs will be created in the construction and public works sector, especially for young people, who will benefit from tailored training programs that support long-term employment. This road program is thus becoming a driver of inclusion and a concrete response to the aspirations of Mali’s youth.

This policy marks a bold shift in Mali’s territorial governance. It demonstrates the State’s ability to anticipate, invest, and unite its people around a shared goal: to connect the country, bridge regional divides, and guarantee every citizen—wherever they live—the right to mobility and prosperity. This is more than just a road infrastructure development plan; it is a reaffirmed promise of national unity through action.
