Côte d’Ivoire: 10% increase in electricity tariffs from January 2024

Starting January 1, 2024, Ivory Coast will experience a hike in electricity costs, as announced by the Ivorian government. This decision is made based on the recommendation of the National Authority for the Regulation of the Electricity Sector (ANARE-CI). According to Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, the Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, the electricity tariff will see an increase of approximately 10%.

The government’s decision to raise electricity tariffs comes against the backdrop of a challenging economic environment exacerbated by the surge in energy prices, a situation further intensified by current geopolitical consequences.

The Ivorian government’s objective in implementing this measure is driven by the commitment to consistently ensure the quality of electricity supply to all Ivorians across the entire territory.

To support the population, authorities are encouraging eco-friendly energy practices to reduce consumption while minimizing the financial impact of this tariff increase.
