Burkina Faso: Digital transition, a strategic lever for sustainable development.

Over the past two years, Burkina Faso has taken significant steps in the digital transformation of its economy and public services. Recognizing digital technology’s potential as a development engine, the government has launched numerous initiatives to make it a pillar of national resilience and social inclusion.

A major focus has been expanding access to digital services. Investments have been made in technological infrastructure, including the deployment of fibre optics, improved connectivity in rural areas, and enhanced capacity for digital ecosystem players.

This policy aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to information and opportunities.

The education sector has been bolstered by online learning platforms, the digitization of educational content, and the promotion of digital skills from an early age.

In healthcare, digital technologies are being leveraged to improve data management, patient monitoring, and the coordination of health interventions, especially in remote areas.

The public administration is also modernizing. The digitization of state services is advancing, with administrative procedures now accessible online, leading to greater transparency in public management and a significant reduction in processing times.

Furthermore, support for startups and young innovators has been strengthened through incubators, dedicated funding, and policies that encourage digital entrepreneurship.

This dynamism is fostering local solutions to national challenges in sectors like agriculture, security, finance, and the environment.

Today, digital technology is an indispensable tool for building a more resilient, inclusive, and competitive Burkina Faso. Through its strategic vision, the government continues to invest in this sector, convinced that innovation, driven by the youth, is central to national transformation.
