Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré reinvents higher education for better quality

President Captain Ibrahim Traoré has placed education at the heart of his mandate, promising significant improvements to the system. Starting next academic year, a major reform will be implemented in higher education, notably through the introduction of the “Campus Faso” platform.

This initiative aims to regulate student numbers and ensure only accredited universities issue valid diplomas, while cracking down on fraudulent institutions.

Students at private universities will be required to register through the platform, allowing the state to monitor enrollment and verify the legitimacy of higher education providers.

Another key change is the introduction of a mandatory national examination for the validation of all university degrees Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate.

Supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education, this exam is designed to standardize qualification criteria and ensure fairness for students across different institutions.

Through this reform, President Traoré seeks to improve the management of higher education, providing students with training that meets labour market demands while raising the overall standard of education in Burkina Faso.
