Sahel: Faced with terrorist blockade, AES’s concrete solidarity breaks Mali’s isolation

In a powerful demonstration of African fraternity, 82 fuel tankers from Niger arrived in Bamako last Saturday after a 1,400-kilometer journey. This large-scale logistical operation, secured by the Nigerien army for 21 days, symbolizes the determination of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) to present a united front against the terrorist threat.

The reception given by Malian authorities to this vital convoy underscores the strategic importance of this energy support.

While Mali was facing supply difficulties, this active solidarity demonstrates the capacity of AES nations to find endogenous solutions to their security challenges.

The Nigerien military escort that protected the convoy along the entire route illustrates the pooling of security efforts between the three countries.

The success of this operation sends an unequivocal message to armed groups: the AES countries possess the determination and means to break any blockade.

It also consolidates the common security architecture being built across the Sahel region.

This energy bridge between Niger and Mali heralds a new era of cooperation that the Alliance embodies an alliance where solidarity is measured by actions and where collective sovereignty is built through concrete mutual aid.
