Togo / South Korea: Towards a multidimensional partnership?

Togo and South Korea are engaged in a dynamic partnership, spanning several key areas, including diplomacy, the economy, trade, agriculture, education and culture.

This collaboration was reaffirmed at a recent meeting between the President of Togo, His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, and the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol, held at the Presidential Palace in Seoul on 3 June 2024.

Discussions between the two leaders highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing issues of common interest.

Among the priority sectors identified for increased partnership were education, with particular emphasis on the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as health, infrastructure and food self-sufficiency.

For Togo, this collaboration is of particular importance, as the country seeks to draw inspiration from South Korea’s successful development model.

South Korea, once a poor country in the 1960s, has now become a major supplier of international aid, thanks to its remarkable economic growth and effective development policies.

This partnership between Togo and South Korea offers promising prospects for both countries.

By drawing on each other’s strengths and experiences, they can work together to tackle common challenges and make significant progress in their economic and social development.

In addition, this collaboration strengthens the ties between the two nations and paves the way for closer cooperation in the future, benefiting their respective peoples and contributing to regional stability and prosperity.
