Togo / The Government listens to health professionals: A special allowance for better patient care

Under the guidance of President Faure Gnassingbé, the Togolese government is bolstering its support for healthcare professionals with a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing patient care.

A recent interministerial decree has been issued to provide a monthly special allowance of 30,000 FCFA to paramedical professionals.

This measure is a testament to the government’s recognition of the outstanding dedication of healthcare workers, particularly those in the fields of general surgery and obstetrics-gynecology, who operate under the supervision of general practitioners and obstetrician-gynecologists.

These professionals serve in peripheral public health facilities equipped with surgical units but lacking specialized surgeons in these critical areas.

Additionally, the government has decided to grant an allowance equivalent to that of section chiefs to general surgeons and obstetrician-gynecologists overseeing these vital services.

This decision underscores the pivotal role these specialists play in guiding and supporting paramedical staff.

The Togolese government’s initiative, spearheaded by President Faure Gnassingbé, has garnered praise from healthcare professionals for its commitment to improving working conditions and ensuring high-quality patient care.

The introduction of this special allowance and the recognition of supervisors’ contributions are concrete steps reflecting the government’s dedication to meeting the needs of healthcare professionals and acknowledging their unwavering dedication.

In essence, this decision represents a significant advancement in enhancing Togo’s healthcare system, valuing the efforts of healthcare professionals, and guaranteeing improved patient outcomes.
