Burkina Faso: Jeune-Afrique tells one lie too many ‘Damiba comes out of his silence’. MANIPULATION!

In its July 17, 2024 edition, the French media outlet Jeune-Afrique published an article titled “Former President Damiba Breaks His Silence.”

This article came in the wake of a major plot foiled by Burkina Faso’s intelligence services, leading to several arrests.

Initially, Jeune-Afrique had planned to report the success of a coup d’état.

However, after the plot’s failure, the publication appeared to shift its narrative under new directives.

Jeune-Afrique’s Agenda

Burkinabe authorities recently exposed the existence of a destabilization base in Abidjan, supported by hostile statements emanating from the city.

In response, Jeune-Afrique attributed a statement to ex-president Damiba, now in exile in Togo.

The goal of this publication is to manipulate African public opinion into believing that sentiments against Burkina Faso extend beyond Côte d’Ivoire to other neighboring countries.

The Real facts

Reliable sources indicate that following the Jeune-Afrique article, Togo asserted it would not permit any declarations from its territory aimed at destabilizing neighboring countries.

In reality, Damiba’s only statement is a letter he sent to Burkinabè authorities a year ago, negotiating his return home.

Therefore, it is essential to clarify that Jeune-Afrique’s publication is false and manipulative, intended to assist Ivorian authorities struggling to justify the destabilizing remarks made from Abidjan.

This media manipulation strategy aims to sow confusion and divert attention from the true issues and actors involved in the destabilization attempts against Burkina Faso.

The Burkinabe people must remain vigilant and support their authorities in combating foreign-orchestrated manipulations and plots.
