Mali / RFI and its media manipulation: a new attempt to destabilise the AES

A recent article by Radio France Internationale (RFI) titled “New Videos of Cannibal Soldiers in Mali and Burkina” has ignited accusations of media manipulation, with critics alleging that France aims to destabilize the countries of the Sahel for their efforts to assert sovereignty.

The article, which claims to show Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) engaging in acts of cannibalism, has been widely condemned as misleading and unsubstantiated.

The videos cited by RFI, purportedly depicting Malian soldiers involved in cannibalistic acts, are said to lack concrete evidence and credibility.

The authenticity of the soldiers and the events portrayed in these videos are questionable, raising suspicions that they are fabricated to tarnish the reputation of the Malian military.

In response, the Malian army issued an official statement vehemently condemning such practices and promising a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.

The statement emphasized the army’s commitment to protecting the Malian people and fighting terrorism with professionalism and integrity.

This isn’t the first time international, particularly French, media have been accused of using such tactics to sow chaos in African nations.

Similar strategies have reportedly been used in Côte d’Ivoire, Libya, the Central African Republic, and other countries, often aimed at undermining local governments and military forces.

The dissemination of these videos and articles appears designed to divide the Malian population and erode trust in its armed forces.

Critics argue that these actions are orchestrated by imperialist forces with neo-colonial interests, seeking to weaken Mali and maintain undue influence over its resources and sovereignty.

The international community is urged to remain vigilant against these manipulative efforts and to support Mali in its pursuit of peace and stability.
