Barcelona triumphs over Real Madrid to claim 15th Spanish Super Cup title

Barcelona claimed their 15th Supercopa de España title with a commanding 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in a high-stakes El Clásico at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah. The anticipated clash saw both teams field their star-studded trios, but it was Barcelona who dominated the night.

The game began at a frenetic pace, with Courtois making two crucial saves against Lamine Yamal and Raphinha within the opening minutes.

However, Kylian Mbappé’s solo effort gave Madrid an early lead in the 5th minute.

The joy was short-lived, as Lamine Yamal’s individual brilliance leveled the score at 22 minutes. Barcelona soon took control, with Lewandowski converting a penalty after Camavinga’s foul on Gavi. Raphinha extended the lead with a sublime header from Koundé’s cross, and Baldé added another before halftime, making it 4-1.

Madrid struggled defensively, with key players like Tchouaméni and Rüdiger failing to contain Barcelona’s relentless attack. Raphinha shone brightest, scoring twice and terrorizing the Madrid backline.

Rodrygo’s free-kick offered a glimmer of hope for Madrid, but Barcelona held firm despite playing with 10 men after Szczesny’s red card.

The Blaugrana’s fluid attacking play and defensive resilience underscored their superiority, while Madrid’s errors and lack of cohesion proved costly.

This victory cements Barcelona’s dominance in Spanish football and adds another chapter to their storied rivalry with Real Madrid.
