Burkina Faso: PM Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo receives Belgian ambassador Erwin De Wandel

On Monday, January 20, 2025, Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, met with Erwin De Wandel, Belgium’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. This meeting reflects the commitment to deepening a long-standing partnership characterized by constructive exchanges and diverse cooperation initiatives.

 

During their discussions, the Prime Minister and the Ambassador explored ways to expand collaboration between Burkina Faso and Belgium.

 

Prime Minister Ouédraogo emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships that align with Burkina Faso’s sovereign stance and strategic priorities.

 

“Burkina Faso now fully asserts its sovereignty. We expect all partners to engage in direct relations that respect this vision,” stated the Prime Minister.

 

His remarks underscore the government’s focus on establishing diplomatic ties rooted in mutual respect and equitable cooperation, a policy direction championed by the President of Faso.

 

Ambassador De Wandel reaffirmed Belgium’s commitment to supporting Burkina Faso’s development efforts while respecting the nation’s strategic goals.

 

Their conversation also highlighted key areas of collaboration, including security, rural development, education, and health, sectors where Belgium has been a valuable technical and financial partner.
