Cooperation/Togo-Rwanda: A stronger partnership for the future of Africa

On January 18 and 19, 2025, Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé visited Kigali for a working and friendly trip, strengthening ties between Togo and Rwanda. This visit highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to deepen bilateral cooperation and advance Africa’s unity and development.

Discussions focused on finalizing key agreements, including a general cooperation framework, the establishment of a permanent joint commission, and regular political consultations.

These initiatives aim to create a stronger institutional foundation for collaborative projects while fostering mutual growth.

Notable agreements, such as visa-free travel arrangements and measures to eliminate double taxation, are designed to enhance mobility, trade, and investment between the two countries.

These efforts reflect a shared ambition to facilitate economic exchanges and bolster regional integration.

Togo and Rwanda, both forward-looking nations, share a vision aligned with Agenda 2063: a prosperous, resilient, and integrated Africa.

By working together, they demonstrate the potential of African nations to lead transformative change on the continent.

This collaboration goes beyond diplomatic agreements, emphasizing Africa’s unity and positioning the continent as a global player ready to tackle challenges and seize emerging opportunities.

Through their partnership, Togo and Rwanda reaffirm their dedication to building a strong and self-reliant Africa driven by innovation, good governance, and economic empowerment.
