Football/ Neymar nears Santos return after Saudi stint ends

Brazilian football star Neymar is on the verge of reuniting with Santos, the club where his illustrious career began. This follows the termination of his contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal by mutual agreement, ending a challenging chapter for the 32-year-old forward.

Neymar joined Al-Hilal in August 2023 for £77.6 million, signing a two-year deal with a reported salary of €150 million annually. However, his time in Saudi Arabia was marred by injuries, limiting him to just seven appearances.

Neymar ‘s debut at Santos

A ruptured ACL during a World Cup qualifier in October 2023 sidelined him for months, and he has not played since his brief return later that year.

Despite interest from Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire and speculation about a potential reunion with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez at Inter Miami, Neymar opted to return to Santos.

Fire had exclusive MLS negotiation rights but fell short of securing the Brazilian’s signature.

Santos fans eagerly anticipate Neymar’s comeback, with the player expected to sign a short-term deal.

During his initial spell at Santos, Neymar scored 136 goals in 225 games, cementing his reputation as one of Brazil’s brightest talents before his moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

As the world’s most expensive footballer prepares to don the Santos jersey again, the club hopes to revive his form and reignite his passion for the game.
