AES: The FAMa liberate Kidal; the Burkina Faso authorities are delighted

The Malian army recapture Kidal from enemy groups. The Malian people are delighted by this achievement, which has been hailed beyond their borders. In a press release dated 14 November, the government of Burkina Faso congratulated the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa).

Kidal, a town that has been under the sway of rebel and terrorist groups for several years, has been liberated by the Malian armed forces (FAMa).

The news has delighted the allies of the Liptako-Gourma Pact, in particular Burkina Faso, which salutes the bravery of the armed troops.

«The government of Burkina Faso is delighted with the liberation of Kidal after several years under the yoke of terrorists. On 14 November 2023, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) recaptured Kidal and broke the stranglehold long maintained on the population by a horde of obscurantists».

The Government of Burkina Faso salutes this recapture of the town of Kidal and pays a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who put their heart and soul into making this victory possible.

It bows to the memory of all the fighters for freedom and sovereignty who made the supreme sacrifice so that Mali, one and indivisible, might live on, and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded,” continues the government note.

The Burkinabe authorities believe that, with this important step towards the total liberation of the country, a new day has dawned for the people of northern Mali and for Mali as a whole.

They reaffirmed their «unwavering support for the Government and the brotherly people of Mali at this pivotal stage in the fight against terrorism in our Sahelian region, a fight whose ultimate goal is to offer our peoples another perspective than the horizon of darkness drawn and planned by the terrorists and their international supporters».

The memo, signed by communication Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, points out that there is still some way to go before the territories that have fallen into the hands of criminals can be regained.

«But we will fight these battles together, in particular within the framework of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), to achieve a definitive victory against barbarism and terror and lay the foundations for lasting peace, security and stability in the Sahel», assures the Burkina Faso government.
