Burkina-Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré launches the construction of a hospital in Gaoua

Since 29 November, the President of the Transition and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has been in Gaoua in the South-West region until 30 November. This first visit by the Head of State to the City of Bafuji is an opportunity for Captain Ibrahim Traore to share his vision of a Burkina Faso free of terrorism with the people of the region.

The exchanges with the region’s living forces are an opportunity for the President of the Transition to explain the current challenges facing our country, to provide answers to the concerns of the region’s living forces and, above all, to call on all Burkinabe to keep the flame of our common commitment against terrorism high.

The Head of State also held talks with the various socio-professional groups in the South-West.

The main highlight of the President’s visit to the South-West region was the laying of the foundation stone for the Gaoua University Regional Hospital.

With a capacity of over 300 beds, the construction of this URH reflects the commitment of the Transition authorities to improving access to healthcare for the people of the region.

This regional hospital centre should relieve congestion at the current centre, which caters for patients from Bougouriba, Ioba, Noumbiel and Poni, not to mention neighbouring countries such as Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

The new URH will be a melting pot for academic training and health research and development.
