Afcon 2023: Samuel Eto’o makes bold move for Ethan Mbappé to Join Cameroon

Ethan Mbappé, the younger brother of Kylian and yet to make his debut for the French national team, is reportedly being targeted by Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot).

Eto’o is keen on securing Ethan’s participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the Indomitable Lions.

At just 16 years old, Ethan Mbappé’s international career is already generating interest, given that he is eligible to represent three countries: France, Cameroon (his father Wilfried’s homeland), and Algeria (his mother Fayza Lamari’s country).

While he is in the sights of multiple nations, Cameroon seems to have gained an edge in the race.

According to revelations from the Algerian media outlet Fennec Football, Samuel Eto’o has allegedly approached Ethan Mbappé, offering him the opportunity to represent Cameroon on the international stage.

Eto’o has reportedly assured Mbappé that he would be included in Rigobert Song’s squad traveling to Ivory Coast in January for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Currently playing with the French U16 team, Mbappé is on the verge of breaking into the U21 squad, harboring aspirations to follow in the footsteps of his brother Kylian by joining the senior team.

This sets the stage for a battle that might cost Cameroon a few “manes” from its Lion.
