CAF Awards 2023: Sadio Mané eliminated, Lamine Camara and Amara Diouf finalists for the title of best player

On Thursday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the three finalists in each category of the CAF Awards 2023. Senegal is on the podium in three award categories for the event to be held on 11 December 2023 in Marrakech.

It is coach Aliou Cissé in the African Coach of the Year category. He is competing with Moroccan coach Walid Regragui and Algerian Abdelhak Benchikha.

Two other Senegalese representatives, Messin Lamine Camara and Génération Foot player Amara Diouf, are competing with Morocco’s Abdessamad Ez Zalzouli for the title of best young African player of the year.

Better known as Ez Abde, the winger currently plays for Betis Sevilla in Spain’s Liga. And finally, the Senegal national team (men), which is in the running for the title of best African national team of the year.

They are competing with Gambia and Morocco. Sadio Mané, winner of the two previous editions of the competition, will not be standing in his own right.

He will be replaced by either Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi or Victor Osimen.
