Burkina Faso: Work starts on the 3rd Burkina Faso-Turkey joint cooperation commission
On Monday, January 15, 2024, the 3rd joint cooperation commission between Burkina Faso and Turkey commenced its proceedings in the Turkish capital. Experts from both nations will delve into various aspects of cooperation, ranging from the development of trade exchanges to culture, education, and mining.
During the opening of the proceedings, Ms. Mehtap ATAKAN, head of the Turkish delegation, welcomed the Burkinabe delegation on behalf of her country.
She recalled significant steps leading to the holding of this joint cooperation commission, including the cooperation agreement signed in 2006, the last joint commission in 2019, and the preparatory meeting in April 2023.
According to her, current discussions on various draft agreements will further energize the bilateral relations between Turkey and Burkina Faso.
Speaking on behalf of the Burkinabe delegation, the Director-General of Bilateral Cooperation, Mr. Michel SOMMA, expressed gratitude to the Turkish authorities for the warm welcome.
He emphasized that negotiations within this joint commission embody the shared vision outlined by the highest authorities of both states.
He encouraged experts from both countries to work in a spirit of friendliness and mutual understanding to reach mutually beneficial agreements for the peoples of Burkina Faso and Turkey.
