FC Barcelona overcomes early setback to secure Copa del Rey Quarterfinal spot

On Thursday night, FC Barcelona faced Unionistas in the Copa del Rey Round of 16. Despite an initial setback where they trailed in the score, the Blaugrana managed to turn the tide, securing a victory and qualifying for the quarterfinals.

Following a humiliating defeat against Real Madrid (1-4) in the Spanish Supercup final a few days ago, Barcelona returned to competition under the guidance of coach Xavi Hernandez.

The match, held at the Reina Sofia municipal stadium in Salamanca, saw a surprising opener from Unionistas de Salamanca, with Alvaro Gomez scoring in the 31st minute.

However, Barcelona leveled before halftime with a goal from Ferran Torres and then took the lead in the second half through Jules Koundé.

The Catalans sealed the deal with a goal by Alejandro Balde in the 73rd minute, ending any hopes of an upset.
