South Africa dominates Namibia 4-0 in AFCON 2023: Bafana Bafana bounce back in Group E

Following the 1-1 draw between Mali and Tunisia in the second round of group stage matches at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa and Namibia clashed on the pitch.

The South Africans, considered favorites, convincingly defeated Namibia with a resounding 4-0 scoreline.

The Bafana Bafana demonstrated high efficiency, particularly in the first half of the game, heading into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Despite Namibia having some opportunities that went unconverted, South Africa capitalized on every scoring chance, including a stylish brace from Themba Zwane (25th, 40th minute) and a penalty converted by Tau (15th minute).

In the second half, the fourth goal was netted in the 75th minute by Thapelo Maseko, extending South Africa’s lead to 4-0.

Following their initial defeat against Mali (2-0), South Africa has bounced back and maintained their chances for advancing to the Round of 16.

The Bafana Bafana currently sit in second place in Group E with 3 points, while Namibia is in third place also with 3 points.

Mali leads the group with 4 points, and Tunisia occupies the last spot with 1 point.
