AFCON 2023/ Semi-final against South Africa:  The verdict is known about Osimhen’s participation

Nigeria has officially given the green light for star striker Victor Osimhen to participate in the upcoming semi-final, as announced on social media this Tuesday.

The crucial match is set to take place against South Africa on Wednesday at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké.

Initially sidelined in Abidjan on Monday due to abdominal concerns, which disrupted his initial travel plans with the José Poseur-led squad, Osimhen’s presence in the semi-final was uncertain.

However, he has now received the medical all-clear from the Super Eagles’ staff.

The latest medical bulletin from the Super Eagles states, «Victor Osimhen has been declared fit and is available for selection in the semi-final against South Africa on Wednesday. He has joined the team in Bouaké and trained today with the group».

Consequently, the formidable trio of Osimhen, Simon, and Lookman will be gracing the field against the South African team.

After a period of uncertainty, the confirmation of the continued inclusion of this dynamic trio within the Super Eagles’ lineup is now firmly established.

Osimhen’s dynamism and effectiveness in the center, combined with the speed and skill of Moses Simon, along with Ademola Lookman’s creative prowess on the flanks, will undoubtedly provide a significant advantage for the Nigerian team as they aim to secure their fourth star, building on victories in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
