Malian President Assimi GOÏTA installs steering committee for national Dialogue

On February 5, the transitional president and head of state, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, along with members of the government, officially inaugurated the members of the steering committee for the inter-Malian dialogue on peace and national reconciliation.

Comprising 140 members from various sectors of Malian society, this steering committee is tasked with creating a peaceful framework for dialogue among Malians, fostering sincere and serious discussions to find suitable solutions to the issues affecting Malian society.

In essence, the inter-Malian dialogue steering committee’s primary mission, according to Malian authorities, is to facilitate an open dialogue where every voice is heard, aiming to restore peace and strengthen national unity.

The dialogue framework is designed to be national and inclusive, free from foreign interference and negative influences.

This is a crucial moment for Malians to establish the solid foundations of a society characterized by peace, stability, and prosperity on all fronts, emphasizing patriotism, unity, solidarity, and coexistence for sustainable development.

Therefore, President Assimi GOÏTA called for a deep self-critique to understand the apparent and underlying causes of conflicts to achieve lasting peace.

He also affirmed that no space would be given to enemies of the people in this significant national forum, emphasizing the commitment to preserving the unity and secularism of the state, as well as territorial integrity.

Through these exchanges and reflections among Malians, the authorities aim to build a new society that meets the aspirations of the population.
