Barcelona edges past PSG in thrilling Champions League clash
In Wednesday night’s clash at the Parc des Princes, PSG welcomed FC Barcelona for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. In a familiar showdown between two European giants, it was Barcelona who emerged victorious after a thrilling and dramatic encounter.
Starting strong in front of their home crowd, PSG seized early control of the game, commanding the midfield and forcing Barcelona to defend deep.
However, despite PSG’s dominance in possession, the best chances fell to Barcelona. Initially wasteful, as seen with Raphinha’s missed opportunity and Lewandowski’s header cleared off the line by Nuno Mendes, Barcelona’s persistence eventually paid off.
Following a swift move through the center of the pitch, Robert Lewandowski shrugged off Beraldo before finding Lamine Yamal on the right flank.
With a deft touch, the young Spaniard played the ball into the penalty area. While Donnarumma attempted to intervene, his punch fell short, allowing Raphinha to pounce and slot the ball home with his right foot (0-1, 37′).
Despite PSG’s efforts to claw their way back into the game before halftime, they were unable to find the equalizer, leaving Barcelona with the advantage going into the break.
