Burkina Faso: Bobo-Dioulasso is preparing to host the Sahel, Ghana and Russia at the 2026 African Nations Championship

Bobo-Dioulasso – From May 30 to June 6, the National Culture Week (SNC) will take on a new dimension, welcoming guests from AES countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger), Ghana, and Russia for the first time. The event signals both political alignment and cultural openness.

Authorities are deploying enhanced security measures across the host city of Sya, with the Minister of Security vowing a reinforced presence to ensure festivities proceed without disruption. For the government, safety is a prerequisite for celebrating culture.

This 2026 edition aims to demonstrate the resilience of Burkina Faso. Despite persistent attacks and national mourning, culture endures as a unifying force where traditions are showcased and youth find expression.

The guest list carries significance: AES partners reaffirm regional solidarity; neighboring Ghana underscores its commitment to cultural exchange; and Russia, an increasingly present economic and diplomatic actor, marks its interest in the country.

With troops ready and the public eager, organizers promise a vibrant week. Security forces stand watch. Culture, they say, refuses to be silenced.
