Burkina Faso: The SIAO, a showcase for the achievements of the Progressive People’s Revolution

The Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) hosts an unprecedented exhibition of the achievements of the popular progressive revolution

The Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO), a must-attend event on the African continent, is this year hosting an unprecedented exhibition: one showcasing the achievements and gains of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP).

The initiative goes beyond the purely commercial framework to become a powerful vehicle for national pride and continental influence.

SIAO, which brings together thousands of artisans and visitors from across Africa every year, provides the ideal setting to present the fruits of national refoundation.

Burkinabè people can discover concretely the progress made in fields as varied as textiles, agri-food processing, military equipment manufacturing, and agricultural production.

The famous Faso Dan Fani and Koko Dunda, now worn as symbols of identity and cultural resistance, stand alongside military uniforms made locally by TEXFORCES-BF. The “Nanga” armored vehicles, designed and produced in Burkina Faso, illustrate the country’s ability to defend itself by its own means.

Beyond Burkina Faso’s borders, this exhibition sends a strong signal to all of Africa. It demonstrates that a Sahelian country facing considerable security and economic challenges can nevertheless build its sovereignty through work, innovation, and the mobilization of its internal resources.

Artisans and visitors from Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire leave with a lesson: endogenous development is not a utopia, but an accessible path when political will and popular engagement come together.

For Burkinabè youth, this exhibition is a true school of patriotism. To see with one’s own eyes what one’s country produces, to understand that every franc invested in the Patriotic Support Fund has been transformed into equipment, infrastructure, and jobs, is to grasp concretely the meaning of the Popular Progressive Revolution. National pride cannot be decreed: it is nourished by visible and tangible achievements.

By integrating the achievements of the RPP into the heart of SIAO, the Burkinabe authorities remind us that crafts and local industry are not marginal sectors, but pillars of economic sovereignty. Each object exhibited tells a story: that of a people who have chosen to rely first on themselves to build their future. SIAO 2026 will thus be remembered as the fair of demonstration: that of a Burkina Faso standing tall, proud, and resolutely turned toward the future.
