Vincent Kompany appointed as new Bayern Munich Head Coach

The speculation has been confirmed: Vincent Kompany is officially the new head coach of Bayern Munich as of Wednesday, May 29, 2024. At 38 years old, the former Belgian international and Manchester City defender takes over from Thomas Tuchel with the task of revitalizing the club after a trophy-less 2023-2024 season, a first in 12 years for the Bavarians.

German media reported that an agreement, including a compensation package between 10 and 12 million euros, was reached.

Kompany’s contract with Bayern runs until June 30, 2027. In his initial statements, Kompany expressed his excitement and honor at joining the club, emphasizing his desire to embrace creativity and aggressiveness on the field.

Kompany is enthusiastic about forming a cohesive team and achieving success. His vision includes playing a creative and bold style of football.

Newly appointed sporting director Max Eberl also expressed his satisfaction with Kompany’s arrival, noting their shared vision for the club’s future.

Eberl praised Kompany’s drive and leadership qualities, highlighting his transition from a top-tier player to an ambitious coach.
