Argentine Football Federation lodges complaint with FIFA after controversial Olympic match against Morocco

Argentina has expressed its frustration and is seeking justice following their defeat against Morocco in the opening match of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The South American side has announced that it has lodged a complaint with FIFA.

In a dramatic turn of events, Argentina lost their first match against Morocco on Wednesday.

After the game, coach Javier Mascherano and even Lionel Messi voiced their indignation.

Following their outcry, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) decided to take action.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, the AFA announced it has filed a complaint with FIFA over the pitch invasions and firework incidents that occurred at the end of the match.

“It is regrettable what we experienced. Waiting almost two hours in the locker rooms, only for our players to be forced to come out to warm up and continue playing a match that should have been suspended by the main referee after the pitch invasion by Moroccan spectators and the violence suffered by the Argentine delegation, is truly nonsensical and goes against the rules of the competition,” stated the AFA.
