Mali / The Professionalism and Bravery of the armed Forces of the AES: The case of the FAMa under the Supreme Command of Colonel Assimi Goita

Under the command of Colonel Assimi Goita, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have delivered a decisive blow to a large-scale terrorist offensive.

The attack, involving over 1,000 terrorists armed with more than 100 pickup trucks, motorcycles, and heavy weaponry, originated from Algeria with the objective of capturing Kidal.

The Malian forces successfully countered this threat, demonstrating remarkable professionalism and tactical prowess.

Advanced satellite imagery allowed the FAMa to detect and track the terrorist convoy as it crossed into Mali.

In response, the Malian military deployed drones for surveillance and targeted strikes.

Complementing this effort, fighter jets and combat helicopters provided critical air support, coordinating with ground troops to effectively neutralize the threat.

The precision of the airstrikes resulted in the destruction of numerous enemy vehicles and significant casualties among the terrorists, severely diminishing their operational capabilities.

Ground forces conducted extensive follow-up operations, pursuing the attackers to the last village on the Algerian-Malian border, thereby securing the region.

This operation highlights the exceptional skill and bravery of the Malian Armed Forces under Colonel Goita’s leadership.

It also illustrates the effectiveness of the Alliance of the Sahel States'(AES) strategies in defending against terrorism.

By halting this major offensive, the FAMa not only safeguarded Mali’s territorial integrity but also conveyed a strong message to those attempting to destabilize the region.
