UEFA to honor Cristiano Ronaldo with special Award for Champions League goal record

Cristiano Ronaldo will receive a special accolade from UEFA in recognition of his historic goal-scoring achievements in the Champions League. The award will be presented on Thursday in Monaco during the draw for the competition’s group stage.

 

The Portuguese superstar, who holds the record for the most goals in Champions League history with 140 goals in 183 appearances, will be honored by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.

 

In a statement, UEFA praised Ronaldo’s extraordinary contribution to the tournament.

 

“Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time top scorer in the UEFA Champions League, will be presented with a special award by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, celebrating his remarkable legacy in the world’s most prestigious club competition,” UEFA announced.

 

Čeferin highlighted Ronaldo’s enduring impact on the sport, stating, “Ronaldo is one of the most iconic figures in Champions League history.His extraordinary goal-scoring achievements are likely to endure, setting a high standard for future generations.His consistent excellence at the highest level reflects his relentless pursuit of both individual and team success.Over more than two decades, Ronaldo has continually evolved his game while maintaining an unwavering passion for scoring and celebrating goals. His professionalism, work ethic, and ability to shine on the biggest stages are qualities that players around the world should aspire to emulate.

 

Ronaldo’s recognition underscores his influence on the competition and cements his status as one of football’s all-time greats.

 

The award will be a fitting tribute to a player whose name has become synonymous with Champions League excellence.
