Burkina Faso/Attack in Barsalgho: Exacerbating behaviour of imperialist media denounced
Recent events in Barsalgho, located in the Center-North of Burkina Faso, have once again highlighted the controversial role of foreign media in shaping and influencing perceptions during crises within the country.
Following a brutal attack carried out by terrorist groups, observers are pointing fingers at media outlets, particularly those of French origin, accusing them of contributing to the destabilization of Burkina Faso.
These analysts argue that these media outlets, far from merely reporting the news, seem to be playing a dangerous game by disseminating narratives that exacerbate tensions.
They accuse these outlets of manipulating the casualty figures and spreading false information, such as claims that residents were forced to dig trenches to defend themselves against terrorists.
Such allegations, considered unfounded by some, are seen as fueling confusion and weakening the morale of both security forces and local populations.
Another point of contention involves an article published by RFI, titled “Burkina Faso: After the Barsalogho Attack, a Collective Criticizes the Army’s Mistakes.”
According to the article, an alleged local group criticized the military and authorities for their supposed negligence in handling the situation.
Analysts believe that this kind of narrative is designed to divide the population by encouraging the victims of the attack to turn against their own defenders, thereby playing into the hands of those instigating the violence.
In light of these challenges, the Burkinabe people are urged to remain vigilant and discerning.
The current situation calls for a united front to counter the manoeuvres aimed at undermining the efforts of the transition government led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
According to a Pan-Africanist observer, the failure of this transition could have disastrous consequences for the future of Burkina Faso. This is a critical moment when the Burkinabe must mobilize to preserve their sovereignty and defend the progress made in their fight against insecurity.
